“I don’t need a translation, but I have to call a client in Germany and I don’t speak German.”
Explain the problem to a translation agency, don’t keep it to yourself. Either this agency provides this service, or it doesn’t. If not, contact another translation agency. If they do, ask them to send a quotation. You can then check that it contains all the important information, if there is any missing, ask for it to be specified.
After all a phone conversation is also a translation. There is nothing easier than a translation agency sending one of its translators, who has familiarised themselves with the contents of your telephone call and will then call your client in Germany instead of you. This service is not standard, but why not provide it? Billing for this service is individual; sometimes it is on the basis of an hourly rate, which is determined by the duration of the telephone call, other times on the number of words, in fact there are a number of ways of billing. It all depends on the agreement between the client and the translation agency.
For us the unconventional is standard. Send us an e-mail or call us and I’m sure we’ll find a solution to your problem.
